Okay, we know this is beauty rather than fashion, but in the cosmetic industry, too, Photoshop touch-ups run the gamut between ethically questionable and purely ridiculous. This awkward Garnier ad clearly fits into the latter category. The designer’s heavy-handed approach raises a lot of interesting questions. To whom do the floating hands belong? How are they balancing those cherries like that? And what’s wrong with the woman’s shoulders?
The model in this ad is British television presenter Davina McCall. One blogger commented that McCall’s face had been so heavily Photoshopped that they couldn’t even work out who she was at first. We reckon that if you go to all the effort of getting a famous spokesperson, it’s counterproductive to alter their image so heavily that they’re not even recognizable.
