Arkansas State University or ASU is a public university located in Jonesboro, Arkansas. It is the flagship campus of the Arkansas State University System, the second largest college system of the state, and the third largest university in terms of enrollment. It was established in 1909 in Jonesboro as a regional agricultural training school and went through various changes in name and shifts in academic curriculum before it finally became Arkansas State College in 1933 offering four-year degree courses. In 1967, the college was elevated to university status by the Arkansas Legislature and became known as Arkansas State University.
Today, there are over 11,000 students enrolled at ASU with more than 200 degree programs offered. Accredited by the Higher Learning Commission of the North Central Association of Colleges and Schools and the National Council for Accreditation of Teacher Education, ASU offers its students Associate’s, Bachelor’s, Master’s, and Doctoral degrees as well as Specialist degrees.
To insure that all students wanting to pursue higher education are able to do so, ASU also offers over 200 classes online. Students can pursue special courses as well as graduate degrees and programs of study in education like MSE in Curriculum & Instruction; Educational Leadership; Educational Theory & Practice; and Special Education.
Cost of tuition per program for graduate programs is US$6,480 for in-state students and for out-of-state, US$7,488. Tuition for individual courses vary depending on the specific course chosen. Financial aid in the form of loans is extended to qualified students to help them in paying for their cost of tuition.
