Bethel University is a private, four-year university located in McKenzie, Tennessee with satellite campuses in Jackson, Clarksville, Nashville, Chattanooga, and Memphis. It was founded in 1842 as Bethel Seminary by the Cumberland Presbyterian Church and was granted a charter in 1847 by the State of Tennessee. In 1950, the school became Bethel College.
Surviving the 1930s Great Depression and WW-II, Bethel enjoyed steady growth over the years and, on August 1, 2009, became officially known as Bethel University.
Three colleges make up Bethel University: the College of Liberal Arts, College of Professional Studies, and College of Graduate Studies. Its steady growth can be attributed to its numerous innovative programs like its Success Program for adult learners, its Master of Business Administration Program which is the second largest in Tennessee, and its Master of Physician Assistant Studies which is one of only three in the state.
Apart from its campus-based graduate degrees, Bethel University also maintains online degree completion programs like its Bachelor of Science in Management Organizational Development program and its online Master of Arts in Education (MAEd) and Master of Business Administration (MBA) which both have a combination online and face-to-face format.
Tuition cost for fulltime campus-based undergraduate degree programs is US$12,938 for commuter students and US$20,210 for on-campus students. Students pursuing graduate degrees are charged tuition of US$498 per credit hour plus application fee of US$50 for Master of Business Administration; US$8,750 per semester for Master of Science in Physician Assistant Studies; and US$330 per credit hour for Master of Education. Financial aid is extended via loans, grants and scholarship for qualified students.
Bethel University is accredited by the Commission on Colleges of the Southern Association of Colleges and Schools to award baccalaureate and master’s degrees.
