Iowa Central College is a comprehensive community college organized in 1966 to serve the residents of the nine-county area. It was mainly built on the foundations of three area junior colleges namely the Fort Dodge, Webster City and Eagle Grove. The nine counties which were primarily targeted for service by the resulting college are Buena Vista, Calhoun, Greene, Hamilton, Humboldt, Pocahontas, Sac, Webster, and Wright.
Accredited by the Higher Learning Commission and a member of the North Central Association, Iowa Central College also offers online programs. It placed fourth in the ranking of 200 educational institutions offering online degree programs as given by Guide to Online Schools. The ranking considered multiple factors such as regional accreditation, tuition cost, graduation rate, and student/faculty ratio, among others. The college was also determined as the most affordable among the top 25 institutions included in the list.
Online programs of Iowa Central College include the Associate in Arts Degree in General Education, Business, Computer Networking Technology, Criminal Justice, Health Care Administration, Human Services as well as Medical Transcription and Coding. The college has an open door admissions policy. It has also made available various financial aid options to assist students in their college education expenses. Some sources of financial aid at Iowa Central College-Online are federal grants, federal work study, State of Iowa Vocational-Technical Grants, Iowa Grant, federal loans, scholarships as well as aid coming from service clubs and organizations, whether local or national. Tuition rate is $ 280.00 per credit hour. However, current and past military students pay only $ 250.00 per credit hour. The online classes consist of two 8-week courses at a time.
