Number two on Tampa Bay’s list of worst charities is the Cancer Fund of America, which accepts both monetary donations and goods such as hygiene products and DVDs. Donated goods and funds are supposed to go to families who have gone broke trying to support the treatments of a cancer patient in their ranks.
However, how charitable can a charity be when the founder and a dozen of his family members are reaping $1 million salaries per year? Over 82% of the Cancer Fund of America’s donations go toward for-profit fundraisers — in the past ten years, $1 million of a whopping $98 million donated actually went to the families in need.
