While the idea of mothers, or anyone for that matter, against drunk driving can only be a noble one, the way MADD has been run over the past few years is far from noble or charitable.
MADD has been quietly spending approximately half of its revenue on salaries, which is pretty crappy considering that the entire goal of this organization is geared toward preventing drunk drivers from harming themselves and others — and not turning a profit.
MADD seems a mismanaged charity missing its mark, especially when you consider its $3.5 million dollar deficit and baffling new line of non-alcoholic beers and wines.
Even the former founder of MADD is opposed to the organization’s recent behavior, speaking out to say that MADD has become “far more neo-prohibitionist than I had ever wanted or envisioned.”
