Those of you who were around for TBE may want to check out Slikstr.
Slikstr has positioned itself as the world's first user-created and -controlled company in the world and, as such, is poised to usher in a new generation of web-related businesses. While traditional companies utilize a "top-down" approach to decision making-where the customers or "users" of a service or product are entirely removed from the provider's decision making aparatus-Slikstr is different, utilizing a "user-is-boss" mentality. Indeed, every facet of Slikstr is designed with the intention of providing the individual user with as much control over the company as possible.
Even though I don't believe in this idea any more, it's frustrating to see someone raise $2MM for an idea that I tried to launch over 2 years ago. For those of you not around for the TBE saga, you can read about it in Fast Company here.
